Jala - Compilation by Shiva Rea
Includes:
Great for a yoga class or a dynamic massage. Starts slow, picks up the pace with some great beats, and slows again. One of my favourites when I'm receiving a Thai massage. |

Chinmaya Dunster & Niladri Kumar - Yoga Lounge
To listen to samples, click here, or watch my Hands-Free Thai massage video Duration: 1 hour I luuuuuuuv this album! This is my latest favourite for Thai massage sessions, I highly recommend it! It's perfect for one-hour sessions, and it's like taking the recipient on a yoga massage journey dream! |

Cosmic Game - Thievery Corporation
Includes:
I love all the songs on this CD, I listen to it all the time. Play it straight through for yoga, but for a massage I include certain ones in a playlist. |

Spirit of Eden - Talk Talk
Listen to samples: Duration: approx. 45 minutes Bluesy and lamenting with lots of guitar, a story of life's up & downs, expectations and disappointments, love found and lost (with lyrics like "...everybody needs someone to live by...", "...take my freedom..." and "...heaven bless you..."). The story goes - but don't quote me - that they recorded the entire album, straight through, in one sitting; you'll even hear the guitarist's string pop at one point. There's only one song that I leave out of my playlist because the drums get a little loud for the mood I'm trying to create (lol) and so the rest of the CD adds up to about half an hour, which rounds out a session's playlist nicely. I like to either begin a Thai massage with this album or end with it, because it starts and ends quietly but builds up in between, so it's good for a dynamic seated session. |

Healing Ragas - Mandala
Listen to samples: Duration: approx. 1hr Soothing, lulling ragas on classic Eastern instruments. Traditional, instrumental. Ideal for a calming, grounding Thai massage or savasana. |
|
|
Healing Ragas, Volume 2 - Mandala
Listen to samples: Duration: approx. 1hr Ideal for a Vata massage; for 90-minute sessions I'll play Ragas 2 followed by the Volume 1 (above). One of my favorites, similar in style to the first Ragas. Frequently the 'chorus' (although there are no words) stays stuck in my head long after a massage... |

As Long As I Can Hold My Breath - Harold Budd
Listen to samples: [click here] Duration: 2 discs. "As Long As..." = 1 hour ;-) Meditative, repetitive, kinda hypnotizing. I've had a soft spot for this album since my very first Thai Yoga Massage course: Mia, the teacher, chose this CD for the last day's final massage exchange and I've loved it ever since. It's a good tempo for pacing your rocking slowly, especially if you're trying to train yourself to slow down. I think people either love it or hate it: Either you'll totally zone out to it, or you'll be irritated by the repetition :-) |

|
A Passage in Time - Dead Can Dance
Listen to samples: Duration: approx. 68 minutes Another fave from my teenage-hood. You've probably heard Host of Seraphim at the end of Stephen King's movie, "The Mist" (tragic.) Giving - or receiving - a Thai massage while that song is playing, is like being transported to another world and time. |

|
DownTemple Dub: Waves by Desert Dwellers Duration: approx. 1hr Listen to samples: The DownTemple Dub albums were composed for Duncan Wong's "Yogic Arts" DVDs (above). Waves is a little more mellow than Flames, but still has a nice pace to keep a Thai massage moving. I like to make mixed playlists from the two albums, and both CDs close beautifully. |

|
The Lover and the Beloved by Donna DeLory Duration: approx. 1hr Listen to samples: The music that plays on Duncan Wong's Yogic Arts web site is "Govinda Jaya Jaya" by Donna DeLory. The entire album is equally breath-taking. |
